Longstone GAC Notes

*Lower Mourne were away to Clonduff in the South Down U-21 championship on Sunday. The home team led 2-10 to 0-2 at half-time, and at full-time won on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-9. Last group game is home to Tullylish and Lower Mourne cannot progress to the A semi-finals now, but there is a mathematical chance they might reach the B semi-finals. The most impressive players for the visitors, who were short a good number of players, were Martin Quinn, Mickey Sloan, Corey Cunningham, Michael Ireland and Conor Doran. Lower Mourne: J Trimble, D Haughian, R Doran, M Quinn 1-0, D Young, M Sloan, C Cunningham, S Harrison, C Akdeniz, R McDowell, M Ireland 0-1, C Doran 0-5, R McCulla, C Rogers 0-1, R O’Hare 0-2. *Well done to the U-16s in their recent challenge game in Longstone against Tir na nOg of Randalstown. There were good performances from all the players, and special mention goes to Conor Kelly, Dean Haughian, Paudie Fehan, Aidan Rogers, Gareth McDowell, Darren Fitzpatrick and Tyrone Poland. Thanks to the parents for the teas and sandwiches after the game for the players and mentors.
*There will be a Youth Club trip to Downpatrick Cinema for P1 to P7 children this Friday. Will children and parents/guardians please meet at Longstone Hall at 5.30pm. Youth Club Supervision rota: Primary, 6.45-8.30pm, Patricia Rooney, Martina Sloan, Orla McElroy, Liam Barry, Liam Doran and Kieran Rooney; Secondary, 8.30-10pm, Aine Fegan, Joe Fegan and Christopher Burden.
*There is an indoor P5 and under gaelic football tournament at Pairc na Riochta this Sunday from 10am-1pm and the following Sunday, November 25, there will be a similar event for the P7 and under children. Longstone have entered both tournaments.
*Minor training continues in Longstone Hall on Monday nights 7.30-8.45pm and if there are any changes Kieran Rooney will contact the players.

*In preparation for this year’s AGM, to be held in the Longstone Clubrooms on Sunday December 2 at 7pm sharp, nomination papers are now available for all full members of the club (not Juvenile). These can be obtained from the downloads section (Nominations & Motions) on www.longstonegac.com . Nomination papers are also available in the Hall or from club secretary Damian Young. Please note that consent must be sought from those you choose to nominate, and submitted directly to the club secretary no later than next Wednesday November 21. Nomination papers submitted after this date will not be considered. Nominations, motions and recommendations must also be signed before submission, otherwise they will be void. All members and supporters are warmly invited to attend.
