Longstone GAC Notes

(Sunday, March 20)

*Longstone’s reserves started their league campaign at home to Ballyholland on Sunday with a defeat. At half-time the visitors led by three, and they scored a second goal towards the end which rubber-stamped their win on a 2-11 to 1-6 scoreline. Kieran Rogers was top scorer for the hosts with 1-2.

*The U10s had their first outing of the season on Saturday in a Blitz tournament in Drumgath. The team did very well and gave Warrenpoint, who won the blitz, a great game in the semi-finals.

*The U12s took part in their second Go Games series of the year in Hilltown last Sunday and competed well against the other sides. This Sunday Longstone host the U12 Go Games Series 3 and the other teams taking part are Burren, Shamrocks B, Glasdrumman, Tullylish and Clonduff.  Start time 11am to be confirmed.

*The Lower Mourne Playgroup ran a Table Quiz in Longstone Hall last Friday night. Thanks to everyone who supported the event, to the playgroup committee and the question master, Brendan McLoughlin.

*Sport NI Circuit Sessions for Ladies in Longstone Hall starts on Thursday from 6-7pm. Contact Ashleen Poland on 07934 798009, if you want more information, or turn up at 6pm tomorrow evening. Cost is £2.

*Down GAA Race Day, March 27, tickets from Dympna Rooney (07828 457610) and 25% of the cost goes to the club.

*Dublin v Down NFL game in Croke Park on April 2 is an all-ticket game. A bus, including the club minor team, will be leaving Longstone Hall for the game and there are a few bus/Cusack stand tickets left. Contact Raphael Haughian 07841 125988.

*2011 members can apply for tickets through the club for Down’s game next weekend.
