Longstone GAC Notes
(Monday, September 24)
*The minor football team mentors want to thank all their players for their good efforts and work-rate and attendance at training all year. The team reached the quarter-final of the championship and had a very good home record with only one defeat all year. Indoor training will take place one night a week, starting sometime in October, and Kieran Rooney will contact the players with details. Those players no longer eligible for the minors and making the step into the reserve and senior squads next year are wished the very best as they move up into the club’s adult sides.
*The U-16 football team mentors wish to thank all the players for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. The last game of their season was the championship final defeat to Glenn, a team they had beaten at home earlier in the league, but on the day Longstone didn’t show their true ability whereas Glenn did play very well. In 2011 the U-16s reached the semi-final, this year the final, and hopefully next year the team might go one better and win the title. In the league Longstone finished three points behind the winning team and they were undefeated at home all year.
*Good luck to our senior team in the quarter-final of the championship when they play Burren this Friday at 8.30pm in Pairc Esler.
*U-8 football practice tomorrow evening (Thursday) form 6.15-7.15pm at the Valley Rd pitch.
*There will be a Youth Club Registration Night in Longstone Hall tomorrow night (Thursday) 7-8pm and the fee is £5 per child. Youth club starts on Friday, October 12.
*Committee meeting next Tuesday night at 8.30pm.
*Deepest condolences to Adrian Hughes and family on the sudden death of Marian Hughes recently. May she rest in peace.
