*Longstone celebrated its Juvenile awards night on Friday and a good crowd of juveniles and parents attended. *Camogie Awards: This year Longstone fielded U-8, U-10 and U-12 camogie teams. There were 24 players between the three teams managed by Annemarie Smith. U-12 individual awards: Player/Sports Personality of the Year, Orianna McGoey, Most improved, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Most dedicated, Taylor Poland and Katie Smith. Presentations were also made to Niamh Rogers, member of the Ulster and All-Ireland winning Down minor panel, and to Niamh McDowell and Danielle Corrigan, Down U-15 and U-14 players respectively. The football awards were presented by Ryan Kelly, Mark Poland and Barry Kelly. *Football awards: The U-8, U-10, U-11 and U-12 teams took part in various tournaments and leagues during the year, and received their medals and trophies for their good efforts and success this year. The U-10s were joint winners of the Mourne league, the U-11s won the SD Division 2 league while the U-12s were joint winners of the SD Division 3 league and won the Division 2 section at the Kilcoo tournament. The U-14s were runners-up in their South Down league section and individual awards went to: Player of the Year, Joseph Young; Runner-up, Conor Shields, Most improved, Gerard Gilmore. The U-16s were runners-up in the All County C championship and individual awards went to: Most improved players, Tony Young and Sean Mullan; Most dedicated, Darren Fitzpatrick and Aidan Rogers; Runners-up, Michael McAstocker and Aidan Rogers; Players of the Year, Paudie Fegan and Gareth McDowell. The Juvenile Sportsman Award went to Ronan Harrison. *Moneydarragh PS Christmas concert in Longstone Hall tomorrow night (Thursday) starting at 7.30pm. All welcome to attend.
*We wish our new camogie club secretary, Teresa Magorrian, all the best in her role this year.
*Christmas Disco Night this Friday at Longstone Youth Club starting at 7pm. Supervision rota: Primary-Noreen McCartan, Geraldine McCartan, Helena McVeigh, Liam Barry, Liam Doran and Aidan Poland; Secondary-Orla McElroy, John Burden and Noel Haughian. This will be the last youth club night until Friday, January 11.
*Please contact Dympna Rooney, Emmett Haughian snr or any committee member for details of the new Down Clubs Draw for 2013. By signing up for a Longstone ticket you are supporting the club in a significant way. Will committee members please make their returns by this Sunday night to Emmett or Dympna in the Hall.
*Last Minor football session of the year in the Ambrose Sports Hall next Monday, December 17, at 7.30pm, and it will resume in the new year on Monday, January 7.

*Upcoming events in Longstone: Christmas Night Disco-members only and admission by ticket-doors open from 9pm. Charity Fancy Dress football game on Thursday, December 27, at 2pm-proceeds in aid of the Southern Area Hospice. Annual Christmas Comhaltas night-Friday, December 28.
*Condolences to the family of Eddie Pat McKibben, Longstone Rd., who passed away recently and was a good next-door neighbour to the club for many years.
*Condolences to the family of Jerry Quinn, who died last week, a much respected Clonduff and Down man, who was immersed in Gaelic games and generous with his time and help no matter what club you came from. His sister and nephew, namely, Rosemary and Damian Young, are on the Longstone committee, and the whole club, both football and camogie, sympathise with our club colleagues and with Clonduff.
*St Columban’s College are hosting a coaching clinic on Saturday, January 12, 2013. It is open to all club and school coaches at any age level and gaelic game-the games and drills are transferable to both camogie and hurling.
