Longstone GAC Notes
(Sunday, February 20)
*In the Ulster League in Longstone Park on Saturday morning, the home side were defeated by Trillick on a scoreline of 1-8 to 2-9. At half-time the score 1-6 to 1-3 in favour of the Tyrone team. In the second period there were fewer scores as the heavy underfoot conditions sapped the players’ energy. Longstone scored 5 points, all by Stephen Doran, including three frees in the second half, but Trillick tagged on 1-3 to finish ahead on the scoreboard. Longstone scorers: S Doran 1-5, G Burden, M Hughes & P Trainor 0-1 each. Stephen Doran and Glen Burden were the hosts most consistent players, followed by Norman McComb, Malachy Trainor and Michael Hughes. The Ulster League continues with Game 4 this Saturday away to Banagher, Co. Derry, and the game has a 2pm throw-in.
*Longstone U10 Camogs took part in their second Blitz of the season hosted by An Riocht on Saturday. The players were Linden Haughian, Louise Corrigan, Orianna McGoey, Taylor Poland, Aine Trimble, Natasha Rooney, Grainne Cunningham, Tara Rooney, Holly Trainor and Teagan Magorrian.
*U14 football training this Saturday at the Valley Road pitch at 3pm sharp. Team coached by Joseph Fegan and Michael Haughian.
*Sport NI will give a series of Circuit Sessions for Ladies in Longstone Hall, starting next Thursday, March 3, from 6-7pm. Just turn up on the first evening or contact Ashleen Poland on 07934 798009, if you want more information. Cost is £2.
*Full Committee meeting next Tuesday at 9pm.
*The All County Reserve league starts next Sunday, March 6, and Longstone are home to Banbridge in the opening game.

*Down GAA will host a workshop this evening (Wednesday) called “Understanding Systems of Play” at 7.30pm at Loughinisland GAC. It will be delivered by Ulster GAA Development Manager, Terence McWilliams. It is free and open to all coaches of all codes. *The club is selling tickets for the Down GAA Race Day which will take place on Sunday, March 27 at Downpatrick Racecourse. 25% of the ticket cost will go towards Longstone GAC if bought from Dympna Rooney (07828 457610) and purchasing a ticket gains entry into a draw for 40 pairs of seated tickets for Armagh v Down in the Ulster championship.
