LONGSTONE HOST U8 AND U10 OUTDOOR MINI CAMOGIE BLITZ – 10 APRIL 2011

Longstone hosted the first of the Mourne Regional U8 and U10 Outdoor Mini Camogie Blitzes on Sunday past (10 April 2011).  In the glorious sunshine the teams from Longstone and their neighbouring Club, An Riocht, put on an absolutely magnificent display of camogie for such young age groups.  All the teams who participated seemed to be very evenly matched and at times amazed the spectators with their brilliant ‘lifting of the ball’, ‘soloing’ and ‘pucking in the air’ skills.  Refreshments were enjoyed by all during the blitz and it was a great day for the camogie family in the area overall.  Thanks to the Longstone Mummies and Daddies who made the sandwiches etc, to the mentors, referees etc, and to Joe Feagan and Raphael Haughian for setting up the goals and marking out the pitches.  And a special thanks to the An Riocht teams, parents and supporters for coming along and helping to make the tournament such a success
